
Suzanne Pleshette, born 31 January 1937, who died 19 January 2008, was an American film theatre, television and voice actress. [1] Pleshette started her career in the theatre and then began to appear in films towards the end of the 1950s. She then appeared in prominent films such as Rome Adventure (1962), Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (1963), and Spirited Away (2001). In later years, she was a part of many television productions and was frequently a guest actor. She played Emily Hartley in The Bob Newhart Show, 1972-1978, in which she earned many Emmy Award nominations. Pleshette was the daughter of Geraldine (nee Kaplan), and Eugene Pleshette. She was born in Brooklyn Heights, New York City on January 31 in 1937. Her parents were Jewish as were the descendants of emigrants from Russia and Austria-Hungary.Her mother was an artist and dancer who performed under the stage name Geraldine Rivers. Her father was a stage manager in both the Paramount Theater as well as the Paramount Theater in Manhattan.
